Foo Fighters' Dave Grohl made a surprise appearance at Ride For Ronnie 2019, covering Thin Lizzy and Motörhead.
Something we love about Dave Grohl is that there's no show too small for him. Though he's played with massive chart-topping acts like Nirvana and his own Foo Fighters, he's also always down to play a small show in the name of metal, charity, or a metal charity. Case in point, Dave took the stage at this weekend's Ride For Ronnie motorcycle rally and charity show, to pay homage to the late Ronnie James Dio with a couple of classic Motörhead and Thin Lizzy covers.
Dave took the stage with Ricky Warwick (Thin Lizzy), Keith Nelson (Buckcherry), and Robbie Crane (Black Star Riders) to jam on a couple of classic covers: Motörhead's 1979 track Bomber and Thin Lizzy's 1976 classic Jailbreak. You can watch videos of the songs below.

This year's 5th Ride For Ronnie motorcycle rally and concert was held in Glendale, California, with all proceeds going to the Ronnie James Dio Stand Up & Shout Cancer Fund.
According to the mission statement on their website, "The Ronnie James Dio Stand Up and Shout Cancer Fund is dedicated to support research and education that furthers early detection, prevention and treatment of prostate, colon and stomach cancers.
"Our philosophy stems from the notion that 'Knowledge Equals Power."
Early detection allows people to effectively plan strategies to deal with the disease early on and affords a better chance to overcome the cancer.
To date we have raised over $2,000,000 and have donated to cancer charities, including $217,000 to the M.D. Anderson Cancer Center, and over $450,000 to the T.J. Martell Foundation/ Vanderbilt Hospital and to UCLA's School of Dentistry to support their ongoing research into early detection technologies and for the treatment and cure of prostate, colon and stomach cancers. We will continue to support organizations that are committed to cancer research and education."
