Fresh from wrapping up the European leg of their Peel It Back World Tour with an incredible set at NOS Alive in Lisbon, Nine Inch Nails have recruited a new (well… sort of) drummer.

The industrial heroes – Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross, plus longtime touring members Robin Finck and Alessandro Cortini – have revealed that former Foo Fighters sticksman Josh Freese has joined the ranks, following his surprise departure from Foos in May.

NIN announced the news on social media by posting a photo of Josh with the caption, “Let’s fucking GO,” with Josh then reposting and adding, “‘Let’s Fucking Go’ is right!” Of course, the drummer already has history with Trent and co., having toured with them between 2005 – 2008, and performed on 2007’s Year Zero and 2008’s The Slip albums.

On top of that, Ilan Rubin has now supposedly joined the Foo Fighters after a lengthy career with Nine Inch Nails, essentially swapping places with Josh. Nothing official has been confirmed from Foos’ side, but an exclusive from The Hollywood Reporter reveals that Ilan is now in the band – though it’s not known if that’s in a touring capacity, or as a full-time member. Apparently Ilan told Trent last week that he’d “accepted a job with another band” – and that band looks like it’s Foo Fighters.

Nine Inch Nails’ Peel It Back World Tour will kick off again on August 6, while Foo Fighters will return to the stage in October. Keep your eyes peeled…
