Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl and Grammy-winning folk rock star Brandi Carlile took to the streets of Seattle to ask an important question: you got a quarter?
Sometimes, even multi-platinum Grammy-winning rock musicians need change for the laundromat. And what better way to get it than playing an impromptu street performance for a few passerby? That, we assume, is why Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl took to the streets of Seattle with Grammy-winning folk rock artist Brandi Carlile to do a little busking.
Brandi posted the following videos to her Facebook, with the caption, "Busking at Pike Place Market. Right where it all started so many years ago. Super special guest: Dave Grohl." Check it out:
It's pretty awesome that stars of this size can still go out on the street and play for fans, though we have to say, the little blonde girl in front doesn't look nearly excited enough. We have to assume her parents are huge posers.
Discussing his time in seminal grunge act Nirvana, Dave said, "I didn’t like my voice, I didn’t think I was a songwriter, and I was in a band with one of the greatest songwriters of our generation. I didn’t really want to rock the boat...That’s the famous joke: what’s the last thing the drummer said before he got kicked out of the band? ‘Hey guys, I’ve got some songs I think we should play.’ So I just kind of kept it to myself.”
While talking about the band's Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame induction ceremony, Dave said, "When Pat, Krist and I sat down to go through those songs in a small rehearsal room with concrete walls, it fuckin’ sounded like Nirvana. It was like being shot into outer space. Being able to play that drum fill and break into the chorus… it’s spiritual, physical, emotional. "We would look at each other and smile, but the emotions would kind of go in waves, because there was someone missing – and you wish that you could still share those songs with Kurt.
