Live review: Linkin Park, London The O2
Linkin Park reintroduce themselves with new singer Emily Armstrong to an emotional, deafening audience in London, signifying a defiant, captivating future…
Announced live in Los Angles via their massive livestream, Linkin Park’s new line-up – including co-vocalist Emily Armstrong and drummer Colin Brittain – have unveiled new single The Emptiness Machine, from soon-to-be-released album From Zero.
Well… that was absolutely worth the wait! After their internet-breaking double countdown, Linkin Park are properly back with some colossal news (and a livestream going on in Los Angeles right now).
After much speculation, the beloved nu-metallers have unveiled a brand-new line-up – comprised of original members Mike Shinoda, Brad Delson, Dave Phoenix Farrell and Joe Hahn, plus new co-vocalist Emily Armstrong and drummer Colin Brittain – to kick off their next chapter following the devastating death of Chester Bennington in 2017 (according to Billboard, longtime drummer Rob Bourdon “isn’t returning for this new era”).
“The more we worked with Emily and Colin, the more we enjoyed their world-class talents, their company, and the things we created,” enthuses Mike. “We feel really empowered with this new line-up and the vibrant and energized new music we’ve made together. We’re weaving together the sonic touchpoints we’ve been known for and still exploring new ones.”
Speaking of that new music, Linkin Park have literally just performed mega new single The Emptiness Machine (where you can already hear Emily’s vocal talents) live in LA, and they’ve also revealed that the song is taken from their soon-to-be-released eighth album From Zero, due out on November 15 via Warner.
“Before Linkin Park, our first band name was Xero,” explains Mike. “This album title refers to both this humble beginning and the journey we’re currently undertaking. Sonically and emotionally, it is about past, present, and future – embracing our signature sound, but new and full of life. It was made with a deep appreciation for our new and longtime bandmates, our friends, our family, and our fans. We are proud of what Linkin Park has become over the years, and excited about the journey ahead.”
Oh yeah, and on top of that, Linkin Park are going on a world tour this month – plus a date in Bogota in November!
