Following allegations of sexual offences, Rammstein frontman Till Lindemann is reportedly under investigation by police in his native Germany.
The BBC have announced that German police are investigating sexual offence and ‘distribution of narcotics’ allegations against Rammstein frontman Till Lindemann.
A statement from the Berlin public prosecution’s office has said that, “Preliminary proceedings have been initiated against Till Lindemann on allegations relating to sexual offences and the distribution of narcotics.”
Claims against Till were first made on May 22 by Rammstein fan Shelby Lynn, who came forward with allegations that she had been drugged at a backstage ‘pre-party’ in Vilnius, Lithuania, and had been being propositioned during an intermission at the gig (she says she wasn’t sexually assaulted: “Till did NOT touch me. He accepted I did not want to have sex with him. I never claimed he raped me,” she clarified).
The 24-year-old also alleged to the BBC she witnessed an “organised system of funnelling girls”, with other Rammstein fans coming forwards and sharing similar experiences; since then, prosecutors have launched an investigation “on the basis of several criminal complaints filed by third parties”.
Till Lindemann’s legal representatives Schertz Bergmann previously said that, “Various women have made serious accusations against our client. These allegations are without exception untrue.”
On June 3, Rammstein issued the following statement (translated from German): “The publications of the last few days have caused confusion and questions among the public and especially among our fans. The allegations have affected all of us deeply, and we take them extremely seriously. We say to our fans: It is important to us that you feel comfortable and safe at our shows – in front of and backstage.
“We condemn any kind of transgression and ask you: Do not engage in public prejudice of any kind against those who have made allegations. They are entitled to their opinions. But we, the band, also have a right – namely not to be prejudged either.”
The band haven’t yet commented on the recent news of the police investigation. They are currently on a European stadium tour.
