IDLES drop new POP POP POP remix featuring Danny Brown
After performing POP POP POP with Danny Brown at Glastonbury over the summer, IDLES have just unleashed a new remix featuring the Detroit rap icon.
Bristol punk heroes IDLES have unveiled a new track, I Dream Guillotine.
Kerrang! Awards 2019 winners of Best British Breakthrough Act, IDLES, have not only unveiled a new track in the form of I Dream Guillotine, but also a new music video for their May single Mercedes Marxist.
Both tracks are taken from the Bristol punks' Mercedes Marxist 7", which is released today (pick it up here) – though they were written and recorded during the sessions for last year's incredible Joy As An Act Of Resistance album.
“Mercedes Marxist was a strange beast for us, after Rottweiler, it was the first song we wrote for Joy As An Act Of Resistance,” said frontman Joe Talbot at the time of its release.
“I was pissed off at what I was and where I was: I was sofa surfing on the weekends and spending the weeks looking after my mum. My life balance was way off and this song reflects just how useless I felt. It was me at my worst and without any buoyancy it became catharsis.
“It was the last splurge from Brutalism so we admitted it. I like it now.”

IDLES will hit the road for a sold-out tour in December. When Kerrang! caught up with Joe surrounding the release of Joy As An Act Of Resistance, the frontman explained of their live shows:
"Magic. It’s powerful. The audience and us together make something great. I love it and it’s a great feeling. What we’re trying to do is create a safe space. Hopefully the way we treat each other on stage encourages people. We’ve never had to kick anyone out. It’s what we’re aiming for."
He also added of their Top Five album and if things were any different in the IDLES camp these days:
"I don’t how it’s changed things, because we’ve been so fucking busy. I don’t know if it’s changed at all. I hope it has. The one thing it has changed is our optimism. It’s made me feel like there’s a lot of people who’ll go out of their way to support us, which is the best feeling in the world. That’s one thing I’ll take from that."
