Deftones are hitting the road in North America later this year, bringing along Phantogram and IDLES at select dates…
While out on the road with The Mars Volta and Fleshwater in the U.S. right now, Deftones have just announced another big headline run.
The Sacramento alt.metal kings are extending their touring plans into a full North American stint later this year, kicking off in Vancouver on August 22 and wrapping up in Kansas City on September 17. This time around they’ll be supported by Phantogram and IDLES at select dates, as well as The Barbarians Of California for the whole thing.
Tickets go on general sale on Monday, March 17 at 10am local time. And, if that’s not enough, a press release about the tour also teases to “Be on the lookout for more news and announcements soon.” Does that mean an album launch is on the way?!
Vocalist Chino Moreno said last April that the band were “jazzed” about what they’d been creating when it came to the follow-up to Ohms, and that this new record has an “invigorated kind of sound”. “The creative part, to me, is always kind of the funnest part of being in this band,” he shared. “Performing is great, but coming up with something out of nothing, that feeling cannot be topped. And so when you get in the room with your friends, we’re laughing, we’re having fun and then someone does something and then I react to it or they react to what I’m doing, it goes in a circle and then, all of a sudden, we lift our heads up and there’s something that exists that didn’t exist before we walked in that room. That’s just great.”

Deftones will be back in the UK this summer, headlining Halifax’s The Piece Hall and the Eden Sessions in St. Austell, along with a massive, sold-out date at London’s Crystal Palace Park on June 29. They will also appear at the absolutely stacked Glastonbury.
