Who are Slipknot’s fans?
We head down to Slipknot’s Here Comes The Pain tour in Manchester to meet the Maggots that had their lives changed forever by nine masked men from the cornfields…
Having so nearly made it to a full decade as a member of Slipknot, on what would have been his 10th anniversary of joining the band Jay Weinberg has shared a photo of the four masks he wore, while taking the time to “pause and reflect” on everything he achieved and experienced…
Officially 10 years on from first joining Slipknot, drummer Jay Weinberg has shared some thoughtful reflections on his experiences this past decade, alongside a photo of the four different masks he wore in this period.
Despite parting ways with the band last month – and feeling “heartbroken and blindsided” by that decision – Jay says that he wouldn’t trade his “memories and experiences” for the world, and thanks fans for being there “every step of the way”.
He also explains that his four masks “represent a decade of focused and impassioned dedication to that forward movement”. “Throughout that time,” he writes of being in the ’Knot, “I learned much about application, tenacity, and the satisfaction of committing to breaking through creative thresholds; reaching those artistic goals through constant, concentrated hard work – all fueled by true love of the music.”
Unsurprisingly, he also ponders how the past 10 years have really changed him: “In some respects, the person who wore the mask on the right and the person who wore the mask on the left feel like two completely different individuals,” Jay says, “separated only by experience gained, miles traveled, friendships created, and a connection to the instrument strengthened and deepened so far beyond what I thought was possible.”
Finally, he salutes “the last 10 years”, as well as “wherever the next 10 years bring us”.

In other news, earlier today (December 11) Slipknot announced a 25th anniversary UK and European tour for next December – though they haven’t stated who will be joining them behind the kit.
“It has been 25 years since we first played on the continent, and we’ve been back ever since,” said Clown in a statement. “The memories I have from all those times are life-changing, and we’re ready to make more.
“I’m so excited to bring our 25 year anniversary tour to Europe and the UK. Be prepared for an energy you’ve never experienced before. It’s happening.”
