Check out this exclusive clip of James Hetfield acting, as The Thicket gets a UK release

Following its release across the pond last year, western thriller The Thicket is about to hit the UK via Signature Entertainment.

Arriving on digital platforms on April 21 and DVD from May 26, the movie stars Peter Dinklage and Juliette Lewis and is based on Joe R. Lansdale’s 2013 novel of the same name.

It also includes none other than Metallica frontman James Hetfield, who plays deputy sheriff Simon Deasy. In a September 2024 episode of The Metallica Report podcast, Papa Het said that shooting out and about in Calgary, Canada for the film was “fun” and practically part of his “DNA”, which you can absolutely see from the clip below.

“It was fun being out there and being in a western, getting to wear a hat, carry a gun and have a badge on,” he said, “period-correct clothing, riding horses and all that shit. It’s in my DNA, I love it.”

Speaking with Collider in June 2024 about landing the Metallica man, director Elliott Lester explained: “James Hetfield, a rock god, embodies a raw poetry that fit perfectly with the character we envisioned. From that moment, Peter Dinklage and I were relentless in our pursuit. We tried every possible avenue: his manager, mutual friends, anyone who could help us reach him.”
