Green Day’s epic Nimrod 25th anniversary edition arrives today (January 27), and as well as including some awesome old live performances and demos, one previously-unheard track has particularly caught fans’ attention…

The excellent Black Eyeliner is proving to be the highlight of Nimrod XXV so far, not only because it’s a great demo in its own right but because it actually went on to become two other Green Day-related songs.

As you’ll hear in the pre-chorus, Black Eyeliner features lyrics that were later used in Nimrod album track Church On Sunday, while the verses went on to become Kill Your Friends, a song by Billie Joe Armstrong’s much more recent side-project The Longshot. Whoa!
