Green Day announce Hollywood Walk Of Fame star ceremony

Green Day have announced that they’ll be getting their own Hollywood Walk Of Fame star next month.

The trio – Billie Joe Armstrong, Mike Dirnt and Tré Cool – will be heading to the legendary Los Angeles landmark on May 1 to receive the honour at the unveiling ceremony, which will be livestreamed here on the Walk Of Fame website. Fittingly, the band’s star will be located outside iconic record store Amoeba Music, at 6212 Hollywood Boulevard (Of Broken Dreams…).

“The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce is honoured to welcome Green Day’s Billie Joe Armstrong, Mike Dirnt and Tré Cool to the Hollywood Walk Of Fame,” announces Ana Martinez, Walk Of Fame producer. “Green Day’s music has not only inspired generations but also served as the soundtrack to our lives.”

Via Billboard, Matt Pinfield is going to be hosting the event, while actor Ryan Reynolds and tennis star Serena Williams will also reportedly be in attendance to celebrate.

The latter is a very well-known Green Day superfan, with Billie Joe gushing of Serena in 2021: “She’s great. We would run into her in different countries in Europe because she was kicking everybody’s ass in that particular country! And then she would come to the show – I think she would literally try to see how fast she could beat her opponent so she can actually come to the gig! And she would end up showing up and she would always ask us to play this song, Disappearing Boy, which was a song that we wrote years and years ago. She’s great – one of the sweetest people.”
