Following July’s surprise single Today’s Song, it looks like Foo Fighters might be teasing more new music.

After recently seemingly recruiting new drummer Ilan Rubin – essentially doing a swap with Nine Inch Nails for their former touring sticksman Josh Freese – the rock legends are apparently gearing up for some actual official announcements.

First, they shared a photo on social media of six pairs of feet with the caption: “Foo Fighters Assemble!!! Make sure you’re subscribed to the newsletter for info you won’t want to miss... just sayin’…” Then, they posted a pic from their own Studio 606, and most recently said that it was “Shifty Sunday” (of course referring to guitarist Chris Shiflett) and encouraged fans to “sign up for more important shredding updates”, again via their newsletter.

In a statement that went out the same time as Today’s Song, the Foos paid tribute to all their drummers – including the late, great Taylor Hawkins. “It should go without saying that without the boundless energy of William Goldsmith, the seasoned wisdom of Franz Stahl, and the thunderous wizardry of Josh Freese, this story would be incomplete, so we extend our heartfelt gratitude for the time, music, and memories that we shared with each of them over the years,” they said. “Thank you, gentlemen.

“And… Taylor. Your name is spoken every day, sometimes with tears, sometimes with a smile, but you are still in everything we do, everywhere we go, forever. The enormity of your beautiful soul is only rivalled by the infinite longing we feel in your absence. We all miss you beyond words. Foo Fighters will forever include Taylor Hawkins in every note that we play, until we do finally reach our destination.”
