Shorter walking distances and new camp sites are coming to Download!
Download festival is fast approaching and plans are afoot to make the biggest rock fest of the year even better.
Taking place at Donington Park on June 12-14, this year's fest will be headlined by KISS, Iron Maiden and System Of A Down – but that's not all you've got to excited about as the bods behind Download are making some serious changes on hallowed ground.
“Download is a festival like no other, the audience is as essential as a headliner and we’re excited to bring these site changes to the 2020 festival for better customer experience," says Melvin Benn, MD of promoters Festival Republic.
These changes will include: A new and improved hardstanding Village plus merch superstore, merch stands to increase in size, more vegan food options and multiple car parks with improved locations.
But, perhaps most importantly, there will also be shorter walking distances across the site!
"The new location of The Village is incredibly exciting as we have made use of the hardstanding tarmac lake," continues Melvin. "What’s equally exciting is the merch superstore that will be located here, with plenty of options to commemorate the weekend. The new Castle Donington Bypass has allowed us to introduce a third carpark for those coming from the north, and all these site changes have reduced walking times across the site."

Along with new car parks, there are also new camp sites in different areas – which Downloaders have been asked to name! You have until March 9 to suggest your camp site names here. If someone doesn't make an intense/in-tents pun then we'll be very disappointed.
A 'Legacy Of Download' time capsule will also be buried onsite during the weekend.
"Artists will add to it, and I would love for Downloaders to be involved by suggesting items to include and becoming a part of history," says Melvin. "Here’s to a great 2020.”
Alongside Iron Maiden, KISS and System Of A Down, Download will host Deftones, Gojira, Korn, Mastodon, Black Veil Brides and more across the weekend. Get your tickets here.
