Slipknot's highly-anticipated new album seems to be taking a tiiiiiny bit longer than initially planned, according to frontman Corey Taylor, but the band could nevertheless still be looking at a summer release.

Having started mixing the record earlier this year, the Iowa metallers are currently still in that process, with the vocalist joking in a new interview for Doug Bradley's Down To Hell that it's because they're "lazy" (we don't believe that for a second).

"We don't have a hard [release] date yet ’cause we're lazy and we're still mixing the damn thing," Corey said of where things were at (via Blabbermouth). "I can tell you it's completely recorded and we're about halfway through mixing it. So, to me, I would say probably two or three months [from now]. That's my ballpark. I'm hoping; I'm gonna push to get it out then – maybe summertime sometime."

In December, Corey proudly stated of the follow-up to 2019's incredible We Are Not Your Kind: "It's really good; I'm really, really stoked on it. I actually like this one more than I like We Are Not Your Kind, and I loved We Are Not Your Kind."

He also recently teased that it is "like a heavier version" of 2004's Vol. 3: (The Subliminal Verses). "It's really killer, man," Corey enthused. "It's darker than We Are Not Your Kind, but there's a ton of melody. I've been telling everybody that it's like a heavier version of Vol. 3. It's got so many textures and layers. The heavy stuff has attack but the melodic stuff you can just sink your teeth in; there's a lot of great melodies and hooks. I'm really, really excited for people to hear it."
