In their new video, deathcore outsiders Whitechapel tell a very different sort of break-up story.
What sets Whitechapel apart from the many other bands lumped into the 'deathcore' bucket is their ability to bring epic, atmospheric horror to their music. Rather than just blast the listener with breakdowns and growling, the band uses empty space and drawn-out riffs to touch on the emotional and psychological side of darkness and despair.
So its of no surprise that the band's new video for When A Demon Defiles A Witch, a track from their upcoming new album The Valley, is so terrifying and cinematic. That said, even those familiar with the band couldn't be prepared for just how creepy and unsettling the video could be. Taking cues from films like The Witch, Hereditary, and A Dark Song, the video takes an upsetting, psychedelic approach to the story of two creatures caught in a bizarre courtship.
