Awsten Knight talks new Waterparks album: “It has to be timeless, or I don’t want it”

Following the release of latest single RED GUITAR, appearances on the main stages of Reading & Leeds and a truly incredible tiny London show, we’ve been chatting with Awsten Knight about the next Waterparks album.

In the brand-new autumn print issue of the magazine, K! hit the studio to find out about the follow-up to 2023’s INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY, and we find a songwriter who – as always – is putting an awful lot of pressure on himself to be the very best.

“When I was really young – I’m talking fourth, fifth, sixth grade – I would hear a song and just know whether it was special or timeless,” he tells us. “We’ve finished about eight-and-a-half songs now, and there’s a lot that I think are incredible, but again, this isn’t about incredible. This is about something more. It has to be timeless, or I don’t want it.”
