Metallica have officially announced their new film, and shared its first teaser trailer.
Directed by the legendary Jonas Åkerlund, the metal heroes will unveil the aptly-named Metallica Saved My Life documentary in full later this year, and it’ll feature the stories of some of their incredibly dedicated listeners from all over the globe – as well as The Four Horsemen themselves, James Hetfield, Lars Ulrich, Kirk Hammett and Robert Trujillo.
“As a few of you may know, we’ve been working behind the scenes the last couple of years on a new film that will be released later this year starring you guys!” the band say in a statement. “Metallica Saved My Life explores our world through the lives of fans who have supported each other through highs, lows, trials, and triumphs for over four decades. And yeah, we’re in it a little bit too.”
They add that “it’s not quite finished yet”, but you’ll be able to get a sneak peek at certain cinemas “in most of our upcoming tour stops in North America”. Check out the initial one-minute teaser below:
