Iron Maiden have announced their new touring drummer
Following Nicko McBrain’s retirement from touring, Iron Maiden have revealed that “a name familiar to many of our fans” will be stepping in next year.
Oops! Janick's antics accidentally send his guitar flying into the audience
If you've seen Iron Maiden at any point since 1990, you'll no doubt have seen axeman Janick Gers flinging his guitar around his head and tossing it high into the air before catching it play again. It's quite the feat and shout out Janick for still having all that energy in his 60s, but sometimes it doesn't quite go to plan.
During Maiden's headline show at the AT&T Center in San Antonio, Texas, as the band were wrapping up their eponymous track, Janick was flailing his guitar around his head but accidentally sent it flying into the crowd – as you can see in the clip below. According to reports nobody was hurt, but it left a security guard a little shaken.

“Janick was twirling his guitar and he lost control of it and it flew off and hit a security guard in the back of the head and upper torso," a fan told Blabbermouth.
“It literally flew about ten feet! They returned it and you could tell he was apologetic. The security guard was okay but his eyes were the size of golf balls and he was in shock. The security guard wasn’t injured, as it was a grazing blow, but he was clearly shaken for a moment.”
Iron Maiden just wrapped up their Legacy Of The Beast North American tour.
They will headline Download festival in the UK on June 12-14. Get your tickets now.
