Travis Barker reveals he’s recorded two albums in the past two months
blink-182 drummer Travis Barker has been very busy in the studio since the band got back from tour…
Tom DeLonge joined Mark Hoppus to discuss his favourite blink-182 album and much more
There’s nothing quite as heartwarming as seeing friends reunited. Especially when it’s Mark Hoppus and Tom DeLonge, when the former blink-182 and current Angels And Airwaves man appeared on his old bandmate’s After School Radio podcast.
In the lengthy chat, the pair touch on many topics, including which blink album is Tom's all-time favourite.
“God, there's so many great things about all of them,” he told Mark. “Obviously [there’s] the Untitled album, the sense of the exploration musically that we did there… But I’ve also got to say, when we did Enema [Of The State, 1999], it was like, I knew that we were doing something in the moment that hasn't been done before.
“But I also feel like, you go back to when you wrote Dammit [from 1997’s Dude Ranch], I remember I felt I went through a college course on songwriting. I never really thought of a song as such a simple structure, and it really informed a lot of decisions made later.”
Elsewhere in the chat, Tom told Mark the things that he admired the most about him.
"You have no idea how many Mark Hoppus stories I've been telling people since I did Monsters, the movie," he said. "We did these all night shoots that were exhausting. You start at 6:00 and don't end 'til 6:00 in the morning. So I'm telling you, at 3:00, 4:00 in the morning, every time you cut, people are getting tired. You have special effects people, actors, lights... sometimes there's 40 people on set. And so I start telling old Mark stories to make everyone laugh, just old blink stories like some of the funnier shit that you've done. So it's funny because I've been telling them, and I haven't stopped, and for some reason I even said it probably about a couple months ago, I was telling someone, 'I keep telling Hoppus stories anytime I'm in a social gathering.'
"But on a more serious note, besides just your humour, I think like when you decide to get into gardening, you go deep, or you get into fishing, or you get into World War II, and all these things I've watched you get into over the years," he continued.
"Scuba diving – 'Well, I'll be a master scuba diver.' You just go deep on these things, but you retain the knowledge and you do it in such a way that when you describe it, it's really interesting, and you trim all the fat. Me, on the other hand, when I describe something, I'm all passionate and I'm all over the place. You, you describe it like a scientist that learned the ins and outs of it. And I really admire that."

In other DeLonge news, Angels And Airwaves have just released Losing My Mind, the latest single from their forthcoming LIFEFORMS album, due on September 24.
Explaining the song, he said, “I wanted to write a song about a totally insane idea that would never happen, like, what if our own country was being torn apart by racists, a pandemic, and domestic terrorism, but all at the same time… you know, just normal made up shit that would never happen.”
