The Official Cause Of Death For Vinnie Paul Has Been Announced

TMZ reports that the Clark County Coroner has released the official cause of death for late Pantera/Damageplan drummer Vinnie Paul Abbott.

Vinnie died in his sleep because of dilated cardiomyopathy (an enlarged heart, basically) and that severe coronary artery disease also played a role in his death.

“Vincent Paul Abbott died from natural causes, specifically, dilated cardiomyopathy," said a spokesman for the family. "Severe coronary artery disease was identified as a significant condition to the cause of death according to the official report submitted by the Clark County Coroner’s office. We ask that you please continue to respect the privacy of the family and friends of Vinnie Paul. No further statement will be issued.”

Vinnie Paul died in his Las Vegas home at 54 on June 22 this year, and was buried alongside his brother, the legendary ‘Dimebag’ Darrell Abbott, and his mother Carolyn at the Moore Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Arlington, Texas.
