Aussie radio station triple j have shared a very cool video of Poppy covering Sabrina Carpenter’s Taste for their Like A Version series.

Captured during her recent time down under with Bad Omens, Poppy hits Like A Version to share her take on the 2024 pop mega-hit, also interpolating some of the Divinyls’ classic 1990 single I Touch Myself in there too.

Notably, Poppy is joined by a masked live band which includes keyboardist and background vocalist Jordan Fish, plus guitarist Johneul Hasney, bassist Roshane Karunaratne and drummer Ralph Alexander.

In an interview about the whole thing, Poppy says that her and Jordan “threw around a couple of ideas about things that we could do. I believe we shortened the song quite a little bit, and we went from there. We rehearsed the day off yesterday, at the hotel.”

Of her reasoning for covering Taste, she explains simply: “I love her voice and I think she’s very pretty. And the song is really fun to sing, so here we are.”
