Rob Halford says that "if any metal band deserves to be in the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame", it's Judas Priest.
Despite making it into the fan ballot for the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame this year, Judas Priest ultimately aren't getting inducted into the prestigious ceremony in 2020 (that honour falls to Nine Inch Nails, T-Rex, Depeche Mode, Notorious B.I.G., Whitney Houston and The Doobie Brothers). As a longtime admirer of the institution, though, frontman Rob Halford has admitted he thinks Priest “deserve” to be included.
The Metal God has also revealed that he'd love to see “more metal” included in the Rock Hall, with the likes of Iron Maiden, Motörhead and – of course – Judas Priest still yet to make the status of inductee.

“The Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame isn’t any different from those other institutions they have in America, like the one for football, where you’ll always get some people complaining one player deserves to be there over another,” Rob tells NME, when asked if he is disappointed that the band haven't been inducted yet.
“Emotions always run high whenever these awards take place. But I’ve always supported it – only because of the company we’d be in. I think if any metal band deserves to be in the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame it’s Priest, and beyond that, there needs to be more metal there because there’s not enough.”
Judas Priest have been eligible for inclusion in the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame since 1999.
This year's event will be taking place on November 7, and can be watched on HBO and HBO Max. The Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame 2021 is set to move to autumn next year.
