A Green Day-approved comedy film entitled New Years Rev has been revealed by Live Nation Productions.
The forthcoming movie will be written and directed by Lee Kirk – who also worked with frontman Billie Joe Armstrong on 2016’s Ordinary World – and is “based on the exploits of Green Day and their years of living in a tour van”, according to Variety.
It’ll star Mason Thames, Kylr Coffman and Ryan Foust as the lead trio of friends and bandmates, who seemingly think they’re going to support Green Day at a show on New Year’s Eve and therefore take a “rowdy and mischievous jaunt across the country filled with adventures”.
“Van days rule,” says Billie Joe. “You will drive all night on no sleep then play a show for 10 kids in a basement of a friend of a friend’s house 50 miles east of anywhere you’ve ever heard of. But you’ll do it again the next day, and the one after that. Because you’re doing it with your bandmates who become your family and it’s unlike anything you’ve ever known. It’s electric. Let the music and mischief ensue.”
The cast of New Years Rev also includes Jenna Fischer and Angela Kinsey (aka The Office’s Pam Beesly and Angela Martin), plus Ignacio Diaz-Silverio and Keen Ruffalo.
