Meet Me @ The Altar are back! The band have just dropped a brand-new single and video, Straight Up (Needy).

The pop-punks are kicking off a whole new chapter, after going independent and announcing the departure of guitarist Téa Campbell back in April.

Vocalist Edith Victoria has taken to Instagram to say of MM@TA’s return, and what things have been like lately: “The past year and a half has held some of the hardest times of my whole life. I was left a shell of a person after I lost many of my closest relationships, people who I trusted and adored. I was hurt more than words can describe and was more depressed than I’ve ever been.

“I learned many hard lessons, like how some people in the industry don’t necessarily care about you, but only about what they can get from you. Once they believe you no longer serve them, they won’t think twice to drop you in your most vulnerable state. I cried more than ever, and worked tirelessly and endlessly to become the better version of what I once was.”

Introducing forthcoming EP Worried Sick – which is due out on December 5 – the singer continues that, “Although I still have lots of healing to do, writing this EP was a huge part of that journey and helped me slowly glue the pieces of my heart back together. I didn’t hold anything back while writing this project, and let every emotion I had been feeling the past year and a half out on the pages. Anger, hatred, regret, sadness, jealousy, spite, heartbreak, pain.

“Even though lots of my worst fears came true, I wouldn’t change a thing because the lessons I learned are worth millions. We now have people around us who want us to make the music we want to make. People who don’t care about the number of streams they think the chosen sound will bring. That’s all that matters, right? Creating what you love no matter what. I sincerely hope you enjoy all the heavy, punky, in your face sounds and feelings of this EP.”

“The gratitude I feel for our fans for sticking with us over the past year and a half is too great to put into words,” adds drummer Ada Juarez. “It’s been a very rough road for us lately and finishing this EP is an incredible milestone. In this new era of MM@TA, we’re in full control of our craft and sound which is so very importantly special and genuine for us. The sound we love and appreciate so dearly really shines through and we couldn’t be happier. Dropping this EP is just the beginning of our journey and we can’t wait to spend it with all of you.”
