It’s safe to say that the entire planet is stoked about blink-182’s long-awaited reunion with Tom DeLonge – and probably no-one more so than Mark Hoppus, who has described keeping their massive plans secret as a “burden”.

After announcing Tom’s return yesterday (October 11), along with a world tour, new single and future album, the bassist took to his After School Radio show on Apple Music Hits to share that he feels like “a weight has been lifted off my shoulders” after confirming: “Yes, it’s happening. blink-182 world tour, new music, new album. Tom’s back.”

Via Billboard, Mark also shared an amusing story from last weekend, when a fan came up to him and asked the question that so many of us had been wondering before yesterday: ‘Is there any chance of a blink-182 reunion tour with Tom back in the band at all?’

“He had such hope and desperation in his eyes,” Mark recalled, “and I just wanted to put my hand on his shoulder and say, ‘My friend, just you wait. Just wait three, four more days.’ I should have taken his name and should have just posted it on Instagram, been like, ‘This is for you Steve. Great idea.’”

blink-182’s new single Edging is due out on Friday, while the band will hit the road extensively next year (full dates below). There’ll be a new record at some point, too, with Tom posting yesterday: “What if I told you we just made the best album of our career.” Oooooh!
