Why Madina Lake Are Back And Doing Things For Themselves
Nathan Leone on Madina Lake’s “disappointing” ending, their return, and new EP The Beginning Of New Endings
Listen to Madina Lake's new single, Playing With Fire.
It's been a year and a half since Madina Lake announced they'd be releasing a new EP titled Playing With Fire, and while that material is yet to surface, the band have just released the title-track as a standalone single.
The song follows Madina Lake's 2017 reunion shows, and is the first new music since their World War III album in 2011.

Though it is yet to hit all the digital platforms, Playing With Fire currently lives on Soundcloud, with the band stating: "The track caught the COV and is being quarantined by distro, we’re told it’s stuck in a bottleneck for approval.
"We will have it avail when distro clears, meanwhile, we hope you enjoy it and we welcome your feedback. Remember: play at exceedingly above average decibels and let go of yourself when listening."

At Madina Lake's 2017 shows at Slam Dunk Festival, vocalist Nathan Leone told Upset of the band's plans going forwards: "We're working on the next batch of songs. We were going to just do one or two, then that became four or five, then we just kept going. We currently have I think seven tracks. Maybe there'll be a full record after all."
Going into more detail about this music, he continued: "The first track we did is like eight minutes. It's very self-indulgent. It's all over the place. It's like a little journey. Now we've circled back and the latest that we're writing is coming out very much like the [debut album] From Them, Through Us, To You phase. I love how things are coming out now. It feels good. I think that's what we're going to stick with."
