Iron Maiden have announced their new touring drummer
Following Nicko McBrain’s retirement from touring, Iron Maiden have revealed that “a name familiar to many of our fans” will be stepping in next year.
There's now a character and level based on Italian metallers Lacuna Coil in Iron Maiden's Legacy Of The Beast game…
Lacuna Coil have become the latest band to team up with Iron Maiden as part of their Legacy Of The Beast mobile game.
Following in the footsteps of previous in-game collaborators Amon Amarth, from now until July 5 the game will feature the character of the Shadow Sorceress, a reference to Lacuna Coil's 2019 Black Anima album, and who looks an awful lot like singer Cristina Scabbia. As Mystic Eddie (based on the song The Clairvoyant from Maiden's Seventh Son Of A Seventh Son album), you must join forces to fight monsters and complete your quest.

"My first experience with Iron Maiden was about 30 years ago," says Cristina. "I picked up Piece Of Mind because I was really impressed by the cover. They sounded like nothing I had heard before then and it was instant love. I've always been attracted to video games; they're awesome as they project you into a different dimension and allow you to live a different life, even if for a short moment. I prefer games with a storyline because I like to be embraced by it, get familiar with the characters I am playing with and get involved at the maximum level."
Adds legendary Maiden manager Rod Smallwood of the collaboration and the game's on-going evolution, "Legacy Of The Beast was built on a foundation of Iron Maiden songs, art and history, but has also always been about introducing and developing creative ideas that extended beyond Maiden. And, just as we've always invited bands out to tour with us, we are delighted to invite some friends to become part of our game and to provide another dimension to the fun, dexterity and excitement of it."
This follows hot on the heels of Lacuna Coil's other game-based announcement, that they're now taking pre-orders for their own tabletop game, HORNS UP!. In it, players have to get to the stage at one of the band's gigs. "Lacuna Coil band members will be an active presence in the game: they are depicted on the Stage Cards, and each of these will have consequences on the whole audience!” explains the description, adding that, "There will obviously be many ‘friendship-threatening’ actions challenging the opponents.”
Bands, if you're reading and thinking of getting into games, we'd also like to see: Sabaton Risk, Connect Sevenfold, Operation (Carcass Edition), or Mouse Trap-Them. First band to do it gets… our admiration.
