Knocked Loose’s new album features their most “extreme, chaotic and anxiety-inducing” songs ever

In an exclusive update from the studio, Bryan Garris promises plenty of “big moments” on You Won’t Go Before You’re Supposed To – but they’re “juxtaposed against what are the most extreme, chaotic, anxiety-inducing songs that Knocked Loose have ever written”.

As well as welcoming the incredible Cassyette to the cover of our new print issue, in the latest edition of the mag we have a much-needed catch up with Knocked Loose in the studio, while we keenly wait for the follow-up to 2019’s A Different Shade Of Blue.

And frontman Bryan Garris really spills the beans about all things You Won’t Go Before You’re Supposed To, sharing how dark things get – both as a band and for him as a lyricist. In fact, the vocalist says that the record may well feature some of the their most extreme songs ever, as well as plenty of stuff that’ll continue to thrill huge crowds everywhere Knocked Loose go.

“We plan our setlists to get a big reaction,” Bryan tells us. “We looked at some of our ‘big moments’ that turned into favourites over the years – the last ‘All my friends are dead!’ in All My Friends, that repeating chorus in Mistakes Like Fractures – and said, ‘Okay, this time, let’s do it on purpose! Let’s have the big vocal break. Let’s have the big build up. Let’s have the repeating chorus.’

“Some of those parts are more digestible – a hook, a big vocal moment – but they’re juxtaposed against what are the most extreme, chaotic, anxiety-inducing songs that Knocked Loose have ever written.”

Oooooft! We can’t wait. Pick up the new issue here for the full interview with Bryan, plus so much more. You Won’t Go Before You’re Supposed To is due out on May 10 via Pure Noise.
