Download has launched a new t-shirt raising money for the NHS
Download festival has released a new, limited-edition t-shirt to raise money for the NHS.
500 t-shirts are available for the price of £20 each, and can be purchased from the Download festival merch store.
"Downloaders! We’re stoked to announce a special edition t-shirt to support the UK’s number one rock stars, the NHS, in their fight against COVID-19," reads a statement on the Download website.
"This very special t-shirt is available now for £20, from the official Download Festival merch store, and will see 100% of proceeds go to NHS Charities Together. They provide donations to 143 different charities, offering aid to the awesome NHS as well as volunteers, who are on the frontlines across the country.
"There’s also just 500 copies available, so be quick if you wanna get your paws on one! Wear it with pride."
Download have also released a range of 2020 merch, originally intended to be sold at the festival this June.
Download festival was scheduled to take place at Donington Park on June 12-14, but last week was forced to cancel due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. Iron Maiden, System Of A Down, KISS, Deftones, Gojira and more were scheduled to play across the weekend.
"We’ve been closely monitoring this unprecedented situation and it’s become clear that it just isn’t possible for the 2020 festival to go ahead," said the festival in a statement. "This decision hasn’t been taken lightly and we’re beyond disappointed, we extend our heartfelt apologies to all of you – we really did try to make this work.
"Please rest assured we will be back next year. Now, more than ever, we need the Download spirit to thrive and offer support to those that need it most. We’ll do our best to put together an amazing line-up for you in 2021 and can’t wait to see you all then. Thank you, as ever, for your continued support."
Download festival 2021 is due to take place on June 4-6 next year.
