Album review: Ocean Grove – ODDWORLD
Melbourne party-starters Ocean Grove get weird in both good ways and bad on album number four…
Make your living room 67% more excellent with a Bill And Ted replica phone booth
Calling all Bill & Ted fans! The most excellent, non-bogus event has just occurred. Well, if you have the money, anyway.
The same phonebooth that kickstarted Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure in 1989 – sending them spinning throughout history – can be yours. This payphone box sadly doesn't have time-travelling capabilities, but it certainly looks the part – and actually makes calls!
Made by Cubicall, they say: "The limited-run phone booth features a design inspired by the original film, including an authentic payphone retrofitted for VOIP/landline service, an umbrella antenna, and all of the same stellar features of Cubicall phone booths. Made in USA. Excellent!"
It does, however, cost $8495 to own. We know. But it is a full-size booth, weighing 600lbs and reaching over eight-feet tall (with the umbrella time-travel antenna attached).
You can check it out for yourself now.
The phonebooth also made an appearance in WalMart's Super Bowl commercial alongside Bill himself, plus various intergalactic cameos from Mars Attacks! and Men In Black.
Bill and Ted return to the big screen on August 21 for Bill & Ted Face The Music.
Describing the plot of the film, franchise writer Chris Matheson says, “[Bill and Ted] were told when they were teenagers that they were going to save reality, and they’ve been working on it the whole time…Now an emissary from the future comes and says, ‘You’ve got to do it right now. We’ve got literally 80 minutes or all of reality will come to an end.’”
The announcement of a third instalment in the Bill & Ted series came last year from Alex Winter and Keanu Reeves at the Hollywood Bowl.
