Weezer unveil “earliest known recording” of The Sweater Song

Two years before its release on The Blue Album in 1994, Weezer were already putting together classic single The Sweater Song – and they’ve just unveiled the “earliest known recording” of it, from February 17, 1992.

This old, oooollllddddd version has been shared by the band to mark the announcement of The Blue Album 30th Anniversary Edition, which is due out on November 1 and contains all sorts of goodies like the aforementioned practice version of The Sweater Song, not to mention plenty of other throwback stuff…

“You get a full disc of unreleased early recordings, a full disc of unreleased early live recordings, The Kitchen Tape in its fully realized album format (as the band hoped would be possible back in ’92, but never happened till now), The early 1995 BBC sessions in their entirely, and a 7” of the entire 1993 LMU Sessions which was the source of Jamie!” they write.

“Box sets also include a 24 page full color Weezine by Karl with exclusive photos, extensive history and credits, 4 lithographs feat. dozens of never before seen band photos from the Blue Album photo shoot, a special sticker sheet representing the 10 Blue songs, a 12 sided die for all your Dungeon Mastering needs, & a stylish pin of our mascot Bokkus, first seen inside the booklet of the Blue Album. All packaged in a really cool ‘unraveling’ sweater box!”
