Waterlines share new single, Sinister: “It’s my way of spitting out the bile”
Watch the retro video for Waterlines’ new single Sinister, which arrives following the band’s killer showing at Bloodstock.
Previously named Sertraline, newly-rebranded Yorkshire metalcore mob Waterlines have kicked off a fresh chapter of the band with frontman Ben Mars…
Tech metallers Sertraline have rebranded with a new name, a (sort-of) new frontman and a change in sound.
Now known as Waterlines, the quartet – guitarists Tom Wilson and Mike Hawkings, drummer Si Douglas, and vocalist Ben Mars who joined the fold earlier this year – have dropped crushing single The Halo Around The Horns to showcase their growth.
Says Ben: “When I started with the band, we knew we wanted to explore a different direction and find our horizon. I guess at the time we didn’t really understand what that meant, but when Halo was born and we started to tweak it, we knew this wasn’t Sertraline anymore. We explored our options and had more than a few conversations about how we felt, but when we played it live, we knew there and then that what was Sertraline, would become Waterlines.”
The singer adds that The Halo Around The Horns is “an important song”. “It’s a song about living up to your potential and maximising your opportunities,” he explains. “I think that’s what Waterlines is: it’s an opportunity to grow for all of us and we want to grab it by the horns. Sorry, I had to…”
