twenty one pilots treated fans to one hell of a brand-new show at the opening night of The Clancy World Tour yesterday (August 15).
Kicking off their months-long global run at the Ball Arena in Denver, Colorado, the superstar duo unveiled a mammoth career-spanning setlist, a bunch of new tricks, and of course plenty of songs from their 5/5-rated album Clancy for the first time.
Unsurprisingly given the tour’s name, 10 tracks from Clancy were performed across the night – from opener Overcompensate to live debuts for Vignette, Routines In The Night, Navigating, Lavish and Paladin Strait.
There was plenty for old-school listeners to enjoy, too, from a shortened version of Slowtown (a song that isn’t even on streaming, from 2011’s Regional At Best album), as well as Fall Away for the first time in five years, which was part of a B-stage medley including Addict With A Pen, Migraine and Forest.
Plus, fans have reported on all the new touches added to twenty one pilots’ always-exceptional and meticulous live show: there was apparently a Tyler ‘magic trick’ for Car Radio, their crowd platform was done during Next Semester, Josh’s drum island was used (quite surprisingly) for Paladin Strait, and Trees’ usual explosive finale was actually performed in the middle of the crowd. Whoa!
