The big review: Bloodstock Open Air 2025
Four days of bottomless beer, bin-jousting and blasphemy underline that Catton Park is the UK’s premier destination to bang your head as Bloodstock Open Air returns for its biggest edition yet…
Alex Bent has parted ways with Trivium following a nine-year tenure, as the band welcome Sepultura’s Greyson Nekrutman in his place.
Over the weekend, Trivium announced the departure of their drummer of nine years, Alex Bent.
While the sticksman didn’t give a reason for leaving, a statement on Instagram from Alex stresses that “they’ll always have my support”, and that also, “This is by no means the end of my path as a musician.”
Read the full post: “I am beyond grateful for the incredible past 9 years with Trivium – filled with unforgettable moments, music, and friendships that I’ll always carry with me. I’m so proud of every record and tour we created together, and I know Trivium will continue to dominate the world; they’ll always have my support. While this chapter has come to a close, this is by no means the end of my path as a musician. I’m excited for this new chapter, and I look forward to continuing to create, perform, and share music in new ways. Thank you to everyone who has supported me along the way. Your encouragement means the world.”
Immediately following the news, Trivium welcomed Sepultura’s Greyson Nekrutman to the fold, and played their first show with him at Aftershock on Saturday, October 4. After the set, frontman Matt Heafy enthused: “Thanks for everything @greyson_nekrutman!! Thank you @sepultura for letting us hang with your phenom of a drummer. We played Slave New World in your honor!!!”
In the comments of one of Greyson’s posts, Matt also wrote to their new drummer: “You friggon smashed it! 8 days’ notice, you had two days to learn the material, 2 days to jam with us… came in and saved the day. Can’t wait to play more and eat more with you!”
Sepultura have confirmed that Greyson will return to the band next year, and has only “temporarily joined our friends from Trivium as their drummer”. They add, “In 2026, he’ll be back with Sepultura, resuming his place in the band as we continue our farewell tour. Stay tuned for new tour dates coming soon!”
