"This Is Mind-Blowing To Me": Nergal Talks About His Corey Taylor Collaboration

Behemoth frontman Nergal has spoken about the "mind-blowing" experience of working with Slipknot's Corey Taylor on his upcoming Me And That Man album.

Nergal will release his second Me And That Man album tomorrow (March 27). Titled New Man, New Songs, Same Shit, Vol.1, it features a litany of special guests including Emperor's Ihsahn, Grave Pleasures' Mat McNerney, Volbeat's Rob Caggiano and Slipknot/Stone Sour man Corey Taylor.

“With Corey Taylor, just the fact that he’s taking part in a niche project like this is mind-blowing to me,” Nergal told Loudwire. “He’s such a busy guy, but he really took his time with this and contributed some awesome parts – working with him has made my career, to be honest.”

Speaking about collaborating with so many different artists – 12 in total across the album – Nergal explains that "working on this record has made me feel like a teenager again, opening Christmas presents from all these artists I respect so much.

“And I’m not taking this for granted. New Man, New Songs, Same Shit, Vol 1 has been a great artistic adventure and challenge for me, and one I feel I’ve pulled off. Doing this has left me feeling very fulfilled.”

Behemoth recently wrapped up a UK and European tour with Slipknot. Nergal's scheduled Me And That Man UK release shows have been postponed in light of the coronavirus pandemic, but Behemoth will headline this summer's Bloodstock festival alongside Judas Priest and Devin Townsend.

Speaking to Kerrang! about headlining the festival, and the show they'll be bringing, Nergal said: “We’re in the middle of brainstorming, but if you’ve seen Behemoth before and you think it’s a big show, then we’re going to surpass that.

"All of these amazing tours we’ve been on this year only make us want to work harder and think about how we’re going to elevate our show to the next level. There are some big ideas we’re working on that aren’t easy, but trust me, we are preparing something very special.”
