The Smashing Pumpkins are up to something, which you probably already knew. The old gang's back together, they're posting chummy pics on Instagram and they've got Rick Rubin in on the buttons for a new record - it's an exciting time for fans of joyfully overwrought and perfectly executed alternative rock.

We just spotted that there's a clock on their official website counting down to Thursday, which is very exciting. It can't be a new album already, so maybe it's just a song? Is it a tour? Maybe they're going to share Billy's recipe for a perfect pot roast? We don't know, but we're psyched for Thursday to come.
