Listen to an exclusive premiere of The Menzingers’ brand-new track Second City, taken from Red Scare’s 20 Years Of Dreaming And Scheming compilation.
Alongside the news that The Menzingers will be headlining next year's Manchester Punk Fest in April, the punk legends have just dropped a new song taken from an upcoming 20th anniversary compilation of their previous label Red Scare.
Titled Second City, it's just one of 17 unreleased songs from label alumni that make up Red Scare's 20th anniversary celebration known as 20 Years Of Dreaming And Scheming – featuring the likes of Laura Jane Grace, No Trigger and Cobra Skulls – which is due for release on September 6.
Speaking about the track – which you can exclusively listen to below – Menzingers' mainman Greg Barnett says, “We spent a lot of time in Chicago during the formative years of the band, so when asked to contribute a song for Red Scare’s 20th anniversary, it felt right to pay homage to that era. Second City is about a time and place that feels impossible to recreate now, and maybe that’s why I hold it so close to my heart. Chicago has been like a second home, so it felt pretty natural to write about.“
