Sunn O))) announce self-titled 10th album, coming in April
Robed drone squad Sunn O))) have gone back to a two-piece. Hear sprawling new single Glory Black now.
Berobed masters of heaviness Sunn O))) will hit these shores this summer…
A few weeks back, U.S. drone duo and amplifier enthusiasts Sunn O))) announced that they'll be releasing their new, self-titled album on April 3. Now they've dropped another track off it, the sprawling Butch's Guns, clocking in at a quarter of an hour of volume and sludge.
Speaking about the album, recorded at Washington State's Bear Creek Studios with Sunny Day Real Estate producer Brad Wood, the band's members Stephen O'Malley and Greg Anderson recall how the surroundings added to the vibe…
“The vast tracking room had big windows looking out on trees,” says Stephen. “We could go hiking and be out in the woods, spend time outdoors. That became a big part of it.”
“It was very inviting and very comfortable there,” adds Greg. “There was no stress, no worry about the timeline or anything like that. We just let ourselves go, and let the music come out. What’s been happening with our performances over the last couple years with the two of us and no other collaborators has been really fresh and exciting.”
