See Sum 41 pay tribute to “one of our all-time favourite bands”, Rage Against The Machine, with a great cover of Sleep Now In The Fire at last year’s Hellfest.
A few days on from Rage Against The Machine announcing a total stop to touring and playing live, Sum 41 have paid tribute to one of their “all-time favourite bands”.
The Canadian pop-punk heroes – who are also set to call it a day, following their final album Heaven :x: Hell – tackled RATM classic Sleep Now In The Fire at last year’s Hellfest, and have uploaded the brilliant cover to celebrate and “salute” the band.
“In the light of the news of RATM never performing again,” Sum 41 write, “we wanted to salute one of our all-time favourite bands. Here’s our cover of Sleep Now In The Fire live at Hellfest 2023.”
Last week, drummer Brad Wilk said of Rage’s split: “I know a lot of people are waiting for us to announce new tour dates for all the cancelled RATM shows. I don’t want to string people or myself along further. So while there has been some communication that this may be happening in the future… I want to let you know that RATM (Tim, Zack, Tom and I) will not be touring or playing live again. I’m sorry for those of you who have been waiting for this to happen. I really wish it was…”
