Album review: Mothica – Kissing Death
McKenzie Ellis tears romanticised ideas of death to pieces on vulnerable yet brilliant third album, Kissing Death.
Listen to Scene Queen’s EP Bimbocore Vol. 2 – which features a new collab with Mothica on the song The Rapture (But It’s Pink).
Just a few months after the release of her debut Bimbocore EP, Scene Queen has already unveiled a second instalment.
The seven-song record features already-released bangers Pink G-String and Barbie & Ken with Set It Off, as well as a brand-new collab with the excellent Mothica (in a post on Instagram, Scene Queen thanks SIO and Mothica for “lending me some of your star power” – we love to see it).
Reflecting on Hopeless Records’ support of her art, the musician – real name Hannah Collins – shares: “This project treads into some new and wild territories and having a partner that is both patient and has a sense of humor means the world. Also thank you for putting so many rad women onto this project and understanding just how important that is to me. And of course thank you to anyone who listens. Welcome to Bimbo Beta Pi.
“Buckle up because it’s a ride from start to finish.”
