Pool Kids release split EP with their hardcore alter-egos
Pool Kids have teamed up with, uh, Pool Kids for a new six-song EP…
Following 2022’s self-titled effort, Pool Kids have signed to Epitaph Records and will be releasing album number three in August.
Pool Kids have just announced their third album, Easier Said Than Done.
The Tallahassee breakout stars are following up 2018’s Music To Practice Safe Sex To and 2022’s self-titled record (plus their 2023 split hardcore EP) with an Epitaph debut, which is due out in full on August 15.
Produced by Mike Vernon Davis in Seattle, Pool Kids call working on Easier Said Than Done a “deeply exploratory process”, with guitarist Andy Anaya explaining that, “We dove into these rabbit holes trying to figure out the right sound for each note,” and bassist Nicolette Alvarez detailing how, “We tried out new ideas on the fly, wrote and reworked songs, keys, chord progressions and runs together. We looked at everything as a collective through an even more powerful microscope than before.”
Meanwhile, singer Christine Goodwyne says of the lyrics this time around: “There’s a lot of Florida imagery and a lot of really specific glimpses from tour on this album. By letting myself get specific, I feel a lot more emotionally connected to the songs. It’s a very personal record for me and for the whole band, too. I was writing about what life has been like for all of us over the last few years. I feel like all of us can relate to a lot of the songs.”
