Megadeth have recruited their former bassist James LoMenzo for the upcoming Metal Tour Of The Year.

Following David Ellefson's departure in May, the thrash metal legends have started rehearsals with their 'new' recruit (who originally joined the band in 2006, and was replaced by David in 2010), with the first date of the tour just over a week away now at Austin, Texas' Germania Insurance Amphitheater on August 20.

“I’m happy to announce that former bassist and Megadeth alumni James LoMenzo has graciously stepped in on the Metal Tour Of The Year," announces frontman Dave Mustaine. "Tour rehearsals just began, and we cannot wait to start crushing North America.”

“I’m super-stoked to be rejoining Megadeth for the upcoming Metal Tour Of The Year," continues James. "There are no better fans than Megadeth fans, I can’t wait to get out there and shred some Megadeth music with you all."

Previously discussing the Metal Tour Of The Year, Dave teased: "Can you hear that sound of armies on the march – of destruction on the horizon? That’s this tour, coming for you. We cannot wait to return to the stage and I promise you you do not want to miss these shows. You’re not going to know what hit you!”
