Album review: Delilah Bon – Evil, Hate Filled Female
Delilah Bon takes on the world with a mischievous grin on fiery, witty second album, Evil, Hate Filled Female.
Watch the video for Delilah Bon’s new single Not The President, which she calls “a song about hope and belonging in a world that feels like it’s taking a hundred steps backward”.
Following September’s Evil, Hate Filled Female LP, Delilah Bon has just shared a brand-new single.
Entitled Not My President, the track is about “hope and belonging in a world that feels like it’s taking a hundred steps backward”, according to Delilah, with the singer having written it following the U.S. election just over a month ago.
“I had people reaching out, telling me my music gave them hope in a world that felt like it was taking a hundred steps back,” she explains. “The messages were overwhelming – some of them had never felt so alone or afraid for their safety.”
She adds that, “I cried the entire set at my Bristol show at The Exchange in November. Looking out at that beautiful, diverse crowd, seeing so many people from all walks of life screaming the lyrics, feeling a sense of safety and belonging – it pushed me over the edge. The hate I was seeing online, the hurt people were feeling, it made me want to combust with rage. But I realised that the world needs more than just rage right now. We need hope.”
