Listen To blink-182's New Skate Punk Single, Quarantine

Pop-punk kings blink-182 have made quarantine that little bit more bearable right now, releasing a brand-new single called… well, Quarantine.

Following the more experimental leanings of 2019 album NINE, the band's latest effort is a fast-paced two-minute banger, channeling the skate punk of scene favourites like Bad Religion and The Offspring. And it very much backs up drummer Travis Barker's previous comments that Quarantine is going to be “a blink favourite. It’ll be like all our fan favourites. It’s incredible.” Yep… we dig.

Quiz: How well do you know blink-182’s lyrics?

“This song is about the sadness, confusion, anger and frustration we are all experiencing right now. I hope that everybody is safe and that we can get through this very soon. Can’t wait to see you all on the other side,” explains bassist Mark Hoppus.

Travis adds: “The song was inspired by the quarantine and the crappy punk rock music we have loved to play since day one. All the drums are one take and I even sang some back up vocals. Mark sounds more pissed off than I’ve ever heard him and I really like it.”

Curiously, as Exclaim! have pointed out, blink singer and Alkaline Trio vocalist/guitarist Matt Skiba isn't credited on the track – which could simply be down to the fact that he lives elsewhere and perhaps couldn't join Travis, Mark and co-writer Brian Lee in the studio. Either way, Mark handles vocals for the entirety of the track, while Travis lets loose behind the kit as only he does best…

Check out the lyrics below:

I guess I’m blessed to be so fucking bored
and hiding from this phantom antigen
that wants to send us to the morgue

Quarantine, fuck this disease
I’d rather be on Star Tours or stuck at the DMV
Quarantine, no not for me
I thought that things were fucked up in 2019
Fuck quarantine

Some people hit the bottle, some people hit the books
Some people storm the capitol, some second guess parenthood

It’ll disappear in April, just like a miracle
We don’t need social distance, we don’t need old people
So throw the shop doors open
Save our economy
We don’t need ICU beds or PPE

Quarantine, fuck this disease
I’d rather watch some magic or do press in Germany
Quarantine, no not for me
I thought that things were fucked up in 2019
Fuck quarantine

It’ll disappear in April, just like a miracle
We don’t need social distance, we don’t need old people
So throw the shop doors open
Save our economy
We don’t need ICU beds, we don’t need PPE
