Kid Bookie has shared the unfortunate news that the majority of
next month’s Dead Or Alive tour has been cancelled.
Posting a clearly disappointed video announcement on Instagram,
he explains that despite “working so hard for this for you guys”, most of March’s
shows have been scrapped except for Cardiff and London.
“I saw all your messages and I basically found out when you guys
did that shows are being cancelled,” Bookie writes in the caption. “Hopefully
you can see by how f’in tired I look and am, that we have been working so hard
for this for you guys… London and Cardiff are still on… but unfortunately,
touring is so expensive that if I don’t have a label or investors (currently)
approve a budget in time or to be told a month out from tour that those budgets
that we need are not being approved, then I’m flat on my arse.”
In his typically honest style, Bookie continues that, “Truth is I been taking a lot of hits
recently in this career I love so much and it’s kinda new to me and I ain’t
here to be punched in the face repeatedly and shut up about it, I’m coming back
stronger than ever, because it’s gonna be on my terms, sometimes you have to
sacrifice comfort for dirt because in the dirt is where we grow.
“I’m gonna start playing to my strengths again, to what got us
here in the first place and most of that precedence is the music, a playful
antagonistic spirit and extremely [reckless] optimism. It’s hard to be open or
honest about things you love but I am here for ever, nothing will change that,
people, labels, old friends, broken relationships, false smiles or failures. Nothing.
We need to fail a million times to truly appreciate these wins and none of this
is ever gonna hinder me.
“I can say so much, this year is a proving ground and so is the
rest of my life. To everybody doing their part to flip this game on its head,
it’s a collective strength, let’s train together, salute to the game, salute to
trying. Let’s go.”
