Without Black Sabbath, there would be no heavy metal, period. Had the four boys from Birmingham not pierced the heart of the '60s with the three points of the Devil's Tritone, there'd be no Slayer, no Five Finger Death Punch, no Download or Wacken, and yes, no Kerrang! So in honor of these kings of all things dark and heavy, we decided there's only one thing to do: get jacked up on caffeine and throw a kickass party.
On Friday, December 13, Kerrang! and Sweetleaf Coffee in Brooklyn, New York, are proud to host a party paying homage to Black Sabbath, celebrating both the 46th anniversary of the release of 1973's Sabbath Bloody Sabbath and the 71st birthday of frontman Ozzy Osbourne.
DJing their favorite Sabbath and Sabbath-inspired tracks at the event will be no less than doom metal royalty: former Type O Negative members Kenny Hickey (now of Silvertomb) and Sal Abruscato (now of A Pale Horse Named Death).
Not only that, but the event will feature free coffee and cocktails curated by Sweetleaf, as well as a Black Sabbath tribute cake from Milkmoon Kitchen.
