Brazilian punk rock rising star Karen Dió has announced details of her upcoming My World EP and her first-ever UK headline show.
With the record dropping on October 25 via Hopeless Records, Karen will be celebrating with a special release show at London's Old Blue Last on October 23.
“This will be my first headline show outside of Brazil which is huge for me, and I’m preparing it to be a really fun one," she says. "I’ll be playing not only music from the My World EP but also some new unreleased songs. I couldn’t be more excited about it!”
Speaking about her new EP, Karen says it "sealed my comeback to the music industry, reassuring that here, making music, is where I belong.”
She continues, “It’s the first music I wrote after a two-year break. The songs are short, real, catchy, and straight to the point! The title track has a mix of Joan Jett with a Veruca Salt. That song is about my realisation that music is what I am meant to be doing with my life. Whether it’s in front of 10,000 people or just alone in my room, I will still be writing songs."
The EP news is also marked by the release of new single Stupid, which Karen says is one of her favourite songs on the record.
"It rips. It has this 2000s punk rock energy, which I love. It’s about realising you had been naive and that you didn’t stand up for yourself in certain situations.”
