With Rainbow’s classic cover of Since You’ve Been Gone soundtracking the February trailer for Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 3, the full Awesome Mix tracklist has just been unveiled – and it’s absolutely as awesome as you’d expect.
Director James Gunn has shared the official 17-song Awesome Mix ahead of the third GOTG movie’s release on May 5, and it includes Rainbow as well as the likes of Faith No More, Radiohead, Bruce Springsteen, Alice Cooper, The Replacements and the Beastie Boys.
Speaking to Rolling Stone about how he made the music choices for this film, James Gunn admits, “It was very, very difficult. I felt very uncomfortable picking out songs and making sure that this was the right soundtrack. Do I move on to just all ’80s songs? Do I use all ’90s songs? Or do I do what a Zune would actually have – songs from different eras, which is what I ended up doing.”
