Is This The New AC/DC Singer?

In what may well be the biggest rock story of the decade, Kerrang! can report that Andrew W.K. is set to be named as the new frontman of AC/DC!

The American singer, best known for his 2001 single and rock club staple Party Hard, has been seen leaving the Australian titans’ Atlanta rehearsal studio, and sources close to Andrew have confirmed that the Californian party-starter is set to replace longtime frontman Brian Johnson.

Rumour was previously rife that Guns N’ Roses singer Axl Rose would be stepping into the breach.

Brian, 68 and from Newcastle upon Tyne, who joined AC/DC in 1980 following the tragic death of former vocalist Bon Scott, has recently been given doctor’s orders to cease touring or risk losing his hearing permanently.

Now it seems that 36-year-old Andrew W.K. – full name Andrew Fetterly Wilkes-Krier – will stand in for Brian on the remaining dates of the bands’ Rock Or Bust Tour.

A source close to Andrew told Kerrang!, “Andrew is a huge AC/DC fan, so he’ll be perfect for the job. He’s been rehearsing with the band during the day, then going for milkshakes in the evening with Angus Young. The only sticking point in negotiations currently appears to be that AC/DC are insisting Andrew change out of his trademark white clothes when he comes to sing Black In Black…

Kerrang! approached both camps for comment, only to be told there wouldn’t be anything at this time. Keep checking back for more news on this amazing story when we have it.
