"Something about the general vibe and ambience of the song always stuck with me…"
UK rock mob Of Allies have unveiled a brand-new cover of Phil Collins' smash, In The Air Tonight.
"I think Phil Collins is one of the best British songwriters of all time. I've always loved In the Air Tonight and remember hearing it vividly as a child," explains frontman Rich of their choice of cover. "Something about the general vibe and ambience of the song always stuck with me.
"I love everything about it from a songwriters point of view, it has the structure, the dynamics, the emotion and that incredible drum intro. I've been toying with the idea of doing something with it but was always scared to touch the song as it's loved by so many people. It seemed like the right time so I started work on my take on the song. I wanted to pay homage to it but make sure it had that classic Of Allies sound and I'm really happy with how its turned out."
Check it out.
And here's the original, just because.
